I would like to add some electrical accessories to my pontoon boat. Please help!?

My pontoon boat came from the factory with no electrical accessories on it whatsoever, besides for a cassette player, the standard nav lights and the power trim. No guages, no “mood” lighting….nothing. I would like to add some lighting, upgrade the stereo (possible use of an amplifier), and a horn. Is there a resource online that would show me how to wire this in the correct fasion? I also don’t overburden the alternator in my old 1985 50HP 2-stroke Mercury outboard. I have plenty of room to add another battery or other components I would need to do this the right way. Any advice would be great! Thanks!
One thing I want to be absolutely certain about is that adding another battery, or adding a bigger battery, will not burn out the alternator in my motor. With just the current load, the throttle position effects the brightness level of the nav lights by at least 50% (meaning the lights are so much brighter when at full throttle). I don’t know if that means anything, but I thought I’d at least mention it. I’m sure the alternator on a 50HP outboard from 1985 is not all that beefy.

Please comment below and let me know... I would really appreciate it, and I'll send you a free gift.

An additional battery is a good idea, use a battery switch to isolate the two batteries you don't want to run down your engine cranking battery.

Use marine grade electronics you sure don't want a floating (Stray) ground. Be sure to bond all accessory's that you install this is very important.
