Helping Us With Boats

I'm working towards a life long dream of owning and sailing my own catamaran around the world over a period of about 15 + years, meeting new and interesting people and helping all mankind wherever I can. I would like to learn as much as possible about ocean sailing / cruising before I leave and therefore would really appreciate any help in this regard.
